Cherry Bakewell Cake Recipe

A delicious cake that's a firm favourite with my whole family.

250g Self Raising Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
100g Sugar
85g Ground Almonds
200g Glace Cherries
2 Eggs
50ml Vegetable Oil
175ml Milk
1 Teaspoon Almond Flavouring

125g Icing Sugar
15ml Warm Water

Weigh the flour, baking powder, sugar, almonds and cherries.  Mix.

Whisk two eggs and add to the mixture.

Add the milk and oil.

Pour the mixture into a cake tin and bake at 180 degrees centigrade for 40 minutes.

For the icing mix 125g of icing sugar with a splash of warm water.  

Drizzle the icing over the top of the cooled cake and leave it to set.
